War, occupation and liberation are engraved in the memories of our grandparents or parents, most of us have heard of them.
The fact remains, however, that we owe it to ourselves to continue to remember the sacrifice of our liberators, especially now that we can celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Peace.
The municipality of Knokke-Heist under the leadership of Mayor Count Leopold Lippens, in cooperation with the board of Cnocke Is Hier and the Friends of the For Freedom Museum, are therefore calling on the people of Knokke-Heist to flag their homes en masse with the Canadian Maple Leaf.
This will take place from Friday 30 October until Sunday 15 November.
In no town or city in the world will there be as many Canadian flags flying as in Knokke-Heist, Knokke-Heist will become Maple Leaf City.
Commemorating in this way is the most beautiful sign of respect and gratitude that we as Knokke-Heist can express to our Canadian liberators, according to Mayor Lippens.
The Canadian Flags (100 X 150 cm) will be for sale from Saturday 3 October at the price of 25 € in:
